Security questions often cross business and technical boundaries. A recovery discussion can become an identity question; an AI pilot can become a data-sharing decision. The answers below explain the connections and point toward a practical next step.
Search for a topic such as backups, AI, access or incident. Expand a question to read its answer. Only one answer stays open at a time, so you can move through the page without losing the flow.

01 / GETTING STARTED
Getting started
Where should our business start with cybersecurity?
Start with the business services you cannot easily operate without. Identify their owners, systems, data and external dependencies. Review the access, protection and recovery arrangements that support one important workflow, then prioritize the gaps using evidence. A product purchase is more useful after the requirement is understood.
Can Ransom Secure work with our internal IT team or provider?
The engagement can be scoped around the people and providers already responsible for your environment. Agree who supplies evidence, approves decisions, implements changes and validates outcomes. Clear responsibilities help avoid duplicate effort and conflicting instructions.
How is a security assessment different from a checklist?
A checklist structures questions and preparation. An assessment examines an agreed scope using evidence and an agreed method. It should explain findings, uncertainty and priorities. Completing a checklist does not establish that your systems were inspected or that controls are operating effectively.
What should we prepare for an initial conversation?
Describe the business activity, systems involved, known concern and decision you want to make. A high-level account is enough to begin scoping. Do not send passwords, recovery keys, customer records or confidential incident evidence through the general website form.
02 / INCIDENTS AND RECOVERY
Incidents and recovery
What should we do if we suspect ransomware?
Use your incident plan and trusted response contact route. Record the observable impact and involve the people authorized to coordinate containment and investigation. Avoid unrelated changes or blanket rebuilding before evidence and operational consequences have been considered. The first-hour checklist can help structure the conversation.
Does submitting an enquiry start an emergency engagement?
No. Availability, scope, authority and engagement arrangements must be confirmed directly. Use your existing response route for an active incident and provide a safe callback number in an initial enquiry. The form does not replace your incident escalation process.
Do successful backups guarantee recovery?
No. Recovery depends on a usable copy, required systems, access, people and validation of the business workflow. Test restoration in an agreed environment and record the recovery point, elapsed time and unresolved dependencies. A completed job is useful evidence, but it is not the whole result.
What is the difference between RTO and RPO?
RTO is the target time to restore an agreed service. RPO describes the acceptable age of the recovered data point, usually measured backward from the interruption. The planner helps record both, but achieving them requires suitable capability and evidence from restoration tests.
Should we restore the latest copy after an incident?
The newest copy may not be the right recovery point if it contains the problem or depends on affected infrastructure. Responders should assess the timeline, available evidence and validation requirements. Agree the safe restoration and reconnection process before returning the service to use.
03 / AI, IDENTITY AND COLLABORATION
AI, identity and collaboration
Does AI make every system easy to breach?
No. AI can assist attacker activity and make deceptive content more convincing, but it does not remove the need for an access route or a weakness to exploit. Review practical exposure, verification processes and response readiness rather than assuming that every system is automatically compromised.
How should we review an AI assistant connected to company files?
Map the repositories, user roles and permissions used for retrieval. Test whether restricted information remains restricted and how outdated sources are removed. Review the vendor terms, retention and oversight for the exact account plan and workflow, not only the product’s general description.
Can a familiar voice or email verify a payment change?
A familiar channel may be impersonated or compromised. Use the organization’s established independent verification route and approval process for a consequential change. Do not treat new contact details supplied in the same request as independent confirmation.
Why review old guest accounts and sharing links?
Access can outlive the reason it was granted. A project may end while workspace membership, links or application permissions remain active. Give the review an owner and preserve required records while removing unnecessary access through an approved process.
Do we need to replace our security tools?
Not necessarily. Gaps may involve configuration, ownership, coverage or procedures rather than a missing product. Start with the requirement and evidence. A replacement decision should account for integration, operational impact and the capability the business actually needs.
04 / RESOURCES AND WORKING WITH US
Resources and working with us
Do your browser tools store our answers?
The checklists and recovery planner work in the current page. Their entries are not submitted to us or saved after refresh. Print or download a summary before leaving. Keep sensitive working evidence in your own approved records; the enquiry form is a separate interaction.
Are the guides a certification or compliance audit?
No. They provide practical preparation and discussion points. Formal assurance or compliance work requires defined criteria, evidence and appropriately qualified review. The resources do not promise certification, insurance approval or a particular incident outcome.
How do we turn a resource into an improvement plan?
Choose a defined workflow, record the evidence and identify gaps. Assign an owner and a review date to each action. If the issue spans systems or teams, discuss an assessment scope that can clarify dependencies and priorities before implementation.
How do we contact the team without leaving this page?
Use any enquiry button to open the shared contact form. Name, email, phone number and message are required so the team can understand the question and follow up. Provide a short description and avoid confidential evidence in the initial message.
TAKE THE NEXT STEP
An answer should
lead somewhere useful.
An active concern
Follow your established escalation route. Use the first-hour checklist to organize observations and responsibilities while responders assess the event.
